Awesome experiences at the Dive for a Toonie event of Nepean Ottawa Diving Club:

'It's not as scary as I thought'

Never dared to go up on the three meter diving board, let alone to jump off of one of the higher diving platforms? Last weekend lots of kids - and adults alike - came out to try diving at the Nepean Ottawa Diving Club (NODC) in the pool of the Nepean Sportsplex. NODC organized this exciting and fun event for all who would like to try diving under the supervision of the qualified coaches of the club. Potential dare devils went up the boards and platforms with one of the coaches, had a look, jumped down or .... just went back on the safe side. The coaches were at hand to inform and to show how to prepare to dive with various exercises on deck . As well, an amazing diving demo was organized to showcase divers of all levels of the club.

Deep roots in the Ottawa Community

Doug Turner, president of NODC, explained every dive to the audience and gave a short overview of what NODC is all about. NODC's most skilled athletes have earned top honours at provincial, national and international events.

Diving is a sport for all levels: NODC is well-known for its fun and safe learn-to-dive programs.

Established in 1973 the Nepean Ottawa Diving Club is a non-profit organization sanctioned by Diving Plongeon Canada and Dive Ontario with deep roots in the Ottawa community.

Passion and skills

Fernando Henderson, an Olympic diver himself (during the eighties), is the head coach and runs the club with passion and skills. He brings over 18 years of experience on deck. Henderson: 'Who would like to see more of the club's, it's performances and it's friendly hospitality is most welcome to pop in during the next competition 'The Nepean Ottawa Diving Club Invitational 2010' from December 17th – 19th, 2010 at the Nepean Sportsplex, or otherwise during our every day practices after school.'
